Synthetic Motor Oils

When the first can of AMSOIL 10W-40 appeared on the market in 1972, it signaled the birth of an entire industry. AMSOIL synthetic lubricants have expanded the boundaries of lubrication science and redefined the performance possibilities of modern machinery and engines.

AMSOIL will save you money and give you the peace of mind that comes from using the best. Today's engines produce more power from a smaller engines with a smaller radiator,  a smaller volume of oil to cool, and lubricate them. They need more protection from than conventional oils give them. Conventional oils keep engines from failing most of the time, but there's a big difference between marginal failure prevention, and the total wear protection that AMSOIL delivers!

Synthetic Diesel Oils

In 1972, AMSOIL INC. introduced AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-40 Motor Oil and became the first company in the world to market and manufacture an American Petroleum Institute (API) rated synthetic motor oil. In 1975 AMSOIL introduced a synthetic diesel oil, and with it, coined the term "extended drain intervals."

Since then, AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils have been used as extended drain lubricants in transportation, equipment and stationary engine applications. In every industry, they have proven effective in improving engine durability and fuel economy. AMSOIL customers report significant savings realized through reductions in downtime, parts replacement, lubricant replacement, lubricant disposal and fuel consumption. Fleet demonstrations and independent testing confirm what AMSOIL customers report: using AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils saves money.

Synthetic Motorcycle Oils

Motorcycle manufacturers want the best protection possible for their equipment, calling for rugged oils that exhibit high temperature deposit control additives. AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils are specially formulated with the best synthetic basestocks and high performance additives to provide tough lubricating protection for all four-cycle motorcycle and ATV engines in the most demanding operations.

AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils are formulated for both water-cooled engines and the unique demands presented by air-cooled V-twin motorcycle engines, including Harley-Davidson. Conventional petroleum oils break down and oxidize when faced with high temperatures, such as those experienced when idling in traffic, contributing to the formation of deposits, sludge and varnish. AMSOIL withstands oil breakdown and oxidation in high temperatures, holds contaminants in suspension and keeps engines running cool and clean.

Synthetic 2 Cycle Oils

Two-cycle engines can be found nearly everywhere these days. They are used in dozens of applications and in a wide variety of designs for everything from work and recreation to power generation. Two-cycle engines have design differences and operate under conditions that require different oil chemistries than their four-cycle counterparts. In order to recommend a lubricant for a two-cycle engine, one needs to know how this engine operates, why it is used in place of a four-cycle engine and where and in what type of applications it is used.

AMSOIL Filters

Compared to microscopic dirt particles, your engine is a Goliath, roaring with heat and energy as it converts fuel into raw horsepower. But despite all this power, your engine is extremely vulnerable to the threat of microscopic engine dirt. In fact, if unchecked, this tiny menace will dramatically erode your engine's performance and can eventually cripple it beyond repair.

AMSOIL Oil and Air Filters are the key to preventing costly repairs caused by engine dirt. Filtration is simply a method of removing contaminants by trapping and holding them outside the system of oil circulation. In order for filtration to be truly effective, however, it must be able to capture contaminants of all types and sizes.

AMSOIL has developed a complete line of sophisticated filtration products designed to offer the best protection available against virtually all harmful engine contaminants.

Transmission Fluids

While a manual transmission shifts gears by the command of its operator, an automatic transmission acts as an energy transfer media and shifts automatically based on a variety of variables, including speed and load. Making use of a hydraulic system, in addition to a network of gears and bearings, the lubrication requirements for an automatic transmission are slightly different than those of a manual transmission, requiring a lubricant of different characteristics. Because automatic transmissions are commonly subjected to extensive idling, frequent stops, cold temperature operation, sustained hot weather operation and trailer towing, it is important that they are protected by a high quality lubricant.

AMSOIL's transmission fluids provide automatic transmissions with superior friction protection and performance over a wider temperature range than conventional automatic transmission fluids, avoiding breakdown and maintaining its viscosity in temperature extremes.

Gear Lubes

Modern vehicles are designed with more horsepower and torque than in years past, allowing them to haul and tow heavier and heavier loads. This results in higher gear loading and hotter running differentials. In addition, factors such as increased interior space and lower floor boards push axles higher into the vehicle's body, reducing air flow and increasing heat. The closer proximity of the axles to the exhaust system also effectively raises heat, while more aerodynamic body styles and air dams result in restricted air flow to the differentials.

A number of factors cause SUV, pickup truck and van gears to operate under more severe conditions than over-the-road trucks, contributing to increased temperatures, higher gear loading and shorter drain intervals. First, these vehicles have smaller gears that must handle higher loads per square inch of surface area. Second, their smaller sump sizes (and lower volume of gear lube) cannot dissipate heat as well as larger sump sizes. Third, air flow is significantly reduced compared to over-the-road trucks. Fourth, these vehicles are subject to more frequent stop and go driving conditions and are more susceptible to moisture from condensation due to varying temperature fluctuations.

Greases

AMSOIL greases provide superior protection and friction reduction under both normal and severe operating conditions. The AMSOIL greases can be counted on to remain in the places that they are needed and to provide stable overall lubrication in even the most severe service conditions. Tests prove once again that AMSOIL greases are the best way to protect and prolong the life of industrial and automotive equipment.

Fuel Additives

AMSOIL's selection of quality fuel additives will make your gasoline or diesel engine breath easier and work more efficiently. The quality of the fuel your engine runs on greatly determines its power and responsiveness. Use these products to clean your engine while you drive, and make sure your engine is getting the nutrients it needs to operate at peak performance.

Hydraulic Fluid

Petroleum lubricants are refined from crude oil, a natural substance pumped from the earth and containing diverse chemicals. Some of the chemicals in petroleum oil are detrimental to the lubrication process and to the lubricated components. For example, some petroleum oil chemicals invite oxidation in high temperature operations. Oxidation quickly destroys lubricant integrity

Synthetic lubes, on the other hand, are not refined from crude oil, but constructed from pure chemicals selected for their ability to lubricate. The purity of synthetic lubricant basestocks significantly reduces lubricant oxidation, which promotes the ability of synthetics to be used in higher temperatures applications than conventional lubes may be and promotes their ability to be used for extended drain intervals. In fact, AMSOIL synthetic lubricants are specifically formulated for extended drain intervals.
